- Hogs for the House Cook-Off Competition

Competitors will compete for awards in seven Judge’s Choice Categories based upon common evaluation criteria, Best Chicken, Best Ribs, Best Pulled Pork BBQ, Best Brisket, Best Burger or Dog, and Best Overall. Seven judges will be selected from the community by James House staff. The public will select the winner of the People’s Choice Award by majority vote of guests depositing their tasting cards into their choice voting jar. Cooking/serving spaces are assigned based on date of registration and spacial needs of the event organizers. The refundable entry fee is charged to reserve your cook off space and will be refunded after the event or you can chose to gift this fee to James House. Any registrant who does not show up for the event will have their competition fee donated to James House. Vendor spaces are 30’ x 9’ on average. Check-in will be from 5-6PM Friday or 7-9AM Saturday. Trucks must be moved to vehicle parking after set-up by 8:59PM Saturday when the area will closed to vehicle traffic. Late arrivals will forfeit their spot. Food should be available to serve by 10AM and serving will stop at 3:30PM. We ask that food be served in 2 oz sample sizes for the competition. Tasting cards will be sold to guests for vendor provided samples. James House will receive all proceeds from tasting card sales. Vendors will stamp the cards for samples given. Vendors may sell full portions, non-alcoholic drinks, and sides for profit. A donation of a percentage of sales are appreciated. Winners will receive a plaque at the 3:45PM ceremony. Vendors must provide their own water, power, heat, meat, food supplies, gloves, stoves, utensils, serving cups or plates. Generators are only allowed with a sound proof enclosure. All vendors have a responsibility to contain cooking grease, to prevent spills onto the asphalt, and to clean-up. Absorbent pads will be provided. All entrants are responsible for their own health department permit that must be received at James House by August 1 at 5PM, email to firstname.lastname@example.org or mail to address below.
By completing this registration, you fully accept rules and regulations of this competition including all health rules, proper clean-up, permit deadline, and set-up time cut-off. Failure
to present a health permit by deadline will forfeit registration fee and participation in event.
Submission of this registration implies agreement and signature of chief cook must be completed on the paper registration form prior to the event.
