Birdies for Charity Presented by TowneBank

James House is an approved charity through the Birdies for Charity program. All donations made through this program will go directly to help our survivors and all donations will be matched by 10%!

Donations can be made online, through the mail, or dropped off at James House to be sent through the program.

Birdies for Charity presented by TowneBank enables Richmond-area charities to use the Dominion Energy Charity Classic tournament as a fundraising platform. The program is designed to give charities an opportunity to generate contributions through flat donations or based on the number of ‘birdies’ made by the PGA TOUR Champions players during the competition.

If you are an annual donor of James House, please consider making your donation count even more and donating through our Birdies for Charity link HERE.

There are two methods of donating. You can make a ‘one-time fixed donation’ OR a ‘score-based donation’ (per birdie).

Here are the two methods further explained.

A per-birdie donation gifts an amount for every birdie made by the PGA TOUR Champions professionals during the Dominion Energy Charity Classic, with an option to cap at a certain amount.

A one-time flat donation is simply a fixed amount donation, with a minimum donation of $25.

In addition to your donation or pledged donation, an additional 10 % bonus will be given to James House on donations made through Birdies for Charity.

In golf, ‘par’ is the normal expected score on any given hole on the golf course. A ‘birdie’ is a score of one stroke better than the ‘par’ for any golf hole. In 2017, 789 birdies were made during the Dominion Energy Charity Classic.

To donate online, go HERE and under ‘charity’, click on ‘birdies for charity’, then click on ‘Donate Now.’ Select the ‘one-time fixed donation’ OR ‘score-based donation’ (per birdie) and choose James House from the drop-down list of participating charities. Then fill out the billing form.

Hogs for the House 2018

Hogs for the House 2018 is November 10

We are partnering with Colonial Harley-Davidson on their Fall Open House to host a friendly and delicious competition, live- music from Anderson Highway, food, refreshments and prizes!

Professional grillers will compete to win the Judge’s Overall Best Award, awards in 5 different categories, and the People’s Choice Award.

Guests will use tasting tickets to sample all of the competitors’ foods, then vote in the People’s Choice Award. The Midnight Smoker BBQ Company was selected as the 2017 Colonial Harley-Davidson People’s Choice Award Winner!

Firehouse BBQ was named as the 2017 Colonial Harley-Davidson Judges’ Choice Award Winner. The Midnight Smoker BBQ Company was given a special award for their brisket. This year it might be your team!

We will have two well-known bands provide live music at Colonial Harley-Davidson’s outdoor stage.

James House depends on our annual fall fundraiser and raffle to support the programs and services that we offer to women, men, and children affected by sexual violence, domestic violence and stalking. We help over 1700 people per year providing safe shelter, life saving services and resources, and helping them to learn about healthy relationships. We greatly appreciate your support of our events.

Last year, over 100 volunteers helped us with Hogs for the House. We are in need of volunteers to help out at the event in a diversity of categories. We can use individuals, families, school groups, civic groups, teams, students needing service hours, work places, and more. To register to volunteer, go HERE.

#HalfForTheHouse Raffle

Support survivors of domestic/sexual violence in our community by participating in James House’s fall fundraiser 50/50 raffle. Purchase a $10 raffle ticket and enter to win, half for you and half for the house (James House!). 

The winner will be drawn at the Hogs for the House Benefit Cook Off Competition November 10. Each online ticket will be assigned a raffle number in numerical, chronological order. At the event, volunteers will put a numbered ball matching each raffle ticket number sold into the bingo ball hopper and a volunteer will draw the winner at 3:40pm during the event awards ceremony.
